NATIVITY CRIB COMPETITION CHRISTMAS 2011
We won the crib competition! A lot of love and thought went into it's design and work. I painted the background and papermache the mountains. Made the bridge, wall and houses. We used Jenice's present 'St Joseph's Church', a twig from my dad's vine was varnished and placed on the mountain to symbolize the cross. A torch was held behind a hole on the background representing the Star of Bethlehem. Christmas lights lit houses and crib. We had been collecting blue glass pebbles all summer from the beach shore. Lots of members of the family contributed to the collection of pebbles when they found out I was after them lol. I was hoping to fill a bottle with all the blue stones, which I did and thankfully had enough for the river in our Nativity.

Painting Sea Shells ~ Summer 2011
Painted Sea Shells
Inspired from Art Work by Elena Narkevich (Minsk Bielorussia)

This Summer was a tough one but we managed to 'swim' through it the best we could. Part of our entertainment was playing 'tablita' at the beach. I had the bright idea for an incentive, to paint sea shells collected from the shore, as a prize for the winner. We had loads of fun and much needed therapeutic laughter. My mother-in-law, Mama Tilly won all three! She deserved to win them all! Loved painting these in acrylic and giving them a lovely finishing touch with varnish.
